So It's no secret that I have a major beef with the announcers....
I feel like they have gotten lazy and feel a little too confortable in thier jobs.... Teddy Long is on probation, so should some of these guys be too!
Micheal "tumbleweed Cole" for example is the worst of the bunch. His lack of ability was cloaked by his far superior partners Taz and JBL, now he's finally been undone and his weaknesses are highlighted by having a weak partner in Jerry Lawler since being drafted to Raw.
Jerry Lawler has no place on the mic if he's not doing what got hom over in the first place... telling heel jokes and being a seedy old man-puppies! With out this, he is NOTHING!
JR is still great but he needs and always will, a heel partner to bounce off...
The Grish is good, he doesn't allow for silence to take control too much but he's still very very green
Striker is gonna be good...... as will Matthews
What is needed is someone who is fu##ing brilliant.... Booby Heenan for example was a fu##ing god......
I'm going now, because my Sky+ has just broke (pumpkin rotten and leaked into it) and I've just put my fist through the DVD player, so I need to buy another! bummer!

In Matt Striker's defense, he doesn't always play a face role. He's more likely to play both sides of the coin than just continuously pushing the face. My issue is that the team of Lawler and Cole simply annoys the heck outta me. I don't even REALLY know why. I just can't ever really get into a match. Maybe because during the match I waiting with "anticipation" to hear VINTAGE JOHN CENA! Grisham is gonna be so good down the road. I'm not sold on Josh Matthews just yet. Give me a month and that might change....maybe...

Although I understand the sentiments about Cole......I think he is an
ideal foil to a flamboyant heel, but not strong enough to work in the
current set-up.
It disgusts me that a guy like Lawler, who worked as a heel most of his
career, is doing face commentary.....it makes no sense at all. What was
so good about him, in years past, was the unique dynamic of him being a
full blown heel.......except if someone attacked Ross, in which case he
would come to his aid. It was such a clever bit of scripting, showing
Lawler to be a bully, but god help anyone who muscled in on his
victims......A bully that didn't see himself as a bully.
Striker is good, amusing how Vince stopped his pro republican bullsh##......can't have a heel supporting the party you like.
The Coach was a big loss and JBL was a huge loss. Tazz was a good
announcer, but failed to pull off the whole tweener thing.....the rest
of them are fairly solid.....as faces. Michael Hayes is the obvious
heel announcer they have on there books......even better with the whole
racist thing hanging over him. Tom prichard is still on their books at
FCW......It's not like they don't have people who have a proven record
of being heel announcers

Good points Monkie.
I always liked the dynamics of Hayman on play by play... he has a very interesting voice and sells the fu## out of moves/moments at the correct time..
Spider asked me a few days ago about the new black dude on ECW... he's ok... nothing special and definately has a NFL sound to his commentry!

Yeah i definitely agree that heel announcers are needed. Don West on TNA briefly went that route before he left the program but i didn't care for him either way.
You notice that the best heel announcers were top heel wrestlers? WWE needs a recently retired heel to step in that role at Raw. I think Lawler is just going thru the motions. Jericho would be perfect even though I'd rather have him wrestle. Kevin Nash would be perfect on the TNA side.
Vince started to realize that his hands are dirty with the whole censoring his product thing for his wife's Senate run so hopefully that will bring the product back to normal.( not holding my breath though)

thanks for finally answering my question pocket u lazy bastard!
i like Striker as mentioned above my plays a middle ground role... he will talk the heels and give them excuses as much as he does the faces....i think its more on an "honest" commentry role rather than 1 eye blind face/heel role.... i think JR/Striker are the best commintators at the moment...
Cole is ok... i have nothing agenst him but he needs a really good sidekick.... like Taz and JBL filling in the quiet moments by taking the piss out of Cole and getting a reaction out of him instead of silence.... VINTAGE SCORPION DEATH LOCK!!!
Lawler needs to go... hes is hopless now... unless he turns heel he is a waste of space....

pocket summed it up perfectly. Lawlor needs to be heel, but why would he suddenly turn heel again? it would be hard to pull off unless they got his son back in it and lawlor interfered in his matches for a while.
I agree that Heyman would be a great heel commentator as would Eric Bischoff.. remember him?!! How about the Million Dollar man, Ted Snr?
When Chris Jericho retires, he BELONGS at the announce table!!
