Linda's Thoughts - SD/OH OH Another List

Okay it’s not the time to panic yet, and yet is the key word, but I’m starting to feel that Smackdown is losing the wonderful momentum it has had for months and it’s slowly getting back to the Smackdown that was just bearable to watch. Hopefully this is just a minor set back that’s why I started with it’s not time to panic yet, however if the next few weeks are anything like the last two Smackdown’s then I would say we are in trouble. Gosh I have to do another list, and that’s something I don’t ever think I started with Smackdown, but there was just too many negatives for me on Friday night. You have no idea how bummed out I am that I wasn’t able to rave about this show, especially after such a miserable Raw this past Monday night. All right let me start with what I liked and it wasn’t much and then yes the list of garbage that took over the show. I’m sorry but this isn’t going to be a long column because there really isn’t much to say about what the show, so I thought it would just makes this short, but unfortunately not sweet.

I thought the Straight Edge World Champion did another awesome promo to get the show going. Again CM Punk did his usual insults directed towards the fans about their uses of drugs, prescription drugs and alcohol.  I thought Punk came off extremely well here, but there is one thing that I think needs to stop. And that’s the drug and alcohol material. We know that all of that has to do with Jeff Hardy and when Hardy was there boy Punk’s promos were perfect. But with Hardy gone all of this really has nothing to do with the Undertaker, and see this was one thing that I was concerned about. I wondered how things would come off with Taker as far as promo’s go. And unfortunately it’s going the way I thought not well. It’s time to put Taker down and it seems to me that the creative team just doesn’t know how to handle that character. So I really did like the way Punk came off, but it’s time to move on from the Hardy material and focus on Taker.

I liked the John Morrison/Finlay match against Mike Knox and Dolph Ziggler. I know some of the feedback hasn’t been that favorable about this one but I liked it, especially when Morrison would get in there. I have to say I’m very happy to see Ziggler and Morrison got at it for the Hell In A Cell pay per view. These two young guys hopefully will put on a good strong match. But going back to this one it wasn’t long and it definitely held my interest. Again Knox is looking good out there like he did on Raw for a while and all in all this match definitely worked for me.

I also really liked JGT vs. David Hart Smith. I will be honest with you I’m more impressed with Tyson Kidd than Smith but Friday night he did a good job, and JGT? This guy I really love watching. He works with speed and comes up with some strong moves and this match probably was my favorite of the night.  Hey I still like this Drew McIntyre. I thought he cut a decent promo and I happen to like this feud so far with McIntyre and R. Truth. And the main event was okay. It wasn’t like oh wow what a match, but it was decent.

Wow that’s it the rest I could have done without, and now here is my list of things that never should have been put on TV.

1.     I could have done without Theodore Long in a casket. I guess maybe because it’s been done before. The only good thing about this was that Long set up the HIAC match between Punk and Taker with the ban being lifted on Taker’s Dragon Gate hold, which of course did not make Punk a happy guy.

2.     I have no interest whatsoever in Slam Master J nor did I care about Kane squashing him.

3.     I’m not that happy that Vince McMahon is on Smackdown. I can’t say that he is ruining the show, but his appearance each week is something that I don’t think is needed.

4.     I hated the Big Show vs. Batista match. This was torture to watch and the only thing that I did like was Jericho getting involved. But Dave and Show really couldn’t get it together at all.

5.     Without Jeff Hardy the show has really lost it’s energy, and because of that the show has for now lost it’s upbeat feeling.

So another WWE show that really kind of failed for the week. I’m not going to say it’s not disappointing because it is, but again this could be a temporary setback. So now Monday it’s on to Raw and host Al Sharpton. I am so hoping this guy can make it fun because I don’t need another show like last week. But really I guess it all boils down to the creative team, that’s the group that needs to come up with a winning formula to make Raw worth watching. I will be back either Tuesday or Wednesday with my thoughts about the show. And wouldn’t it be nice if this time there is no LIST! I would love that.

Wwe is a absolute joke atm they have no idea what to do and what they are doing isnt working.Sd has been the better show of the two why cause sd has got a great mix of veterans and even if taker retires they got enough good young talent that can cover takers loss, raws biggest problem is the guest host unless we are going to get a listers celebrities each week it should be scrapped all it is atm is a promo for the stars and not about making raw good.

I'm also getting sick of wwe recycling old bits from the past and not think we remembered them sure kids wont but we do and its starting to get boring.Wwe should never have gone pg ever since they have done that they have done that they have put too much of the shows towards kids and not enough for the target audience which are 18-35.What happened to the wwe and making original storylines that kept us guessing each week all it is now is boring storylines and same champs  over and over.

I say fire vince and fire the creative team i bet if they had a competition for the wwe universe to be apart of the creative team im sure we all could write better stuff that it is now wwe can get back to its best it just needs lots of changes to help it cause atm i would rather watch tna although its not as good its far more watchable then wwe atm

Probably Batista's best ever promo...

I'm actually with you on most things this week Linda.... Slamthingymebob J is a waste of tv time and a waste of his ability....

Teddy Long Sucks ass... he is possibly the worst GM of all time, which I'm including Adamle... he just doesn't react, he has no emotion change on his face weather happy, sad or scared.... he couldn't sell a lighter to a cave man! the guy is pathetic... his segment last week was the worst I've seen on Smackdown... ever! He's hurting this storyline, as he is a very weak link...

Finlay needs new music.... a makeover wouldn't hurt either.... I couldn't understand taking of ECW? He could easily be a champion on the ECW brand... and come off looking legit too

Again Morrison looked good and is too good for mid-card.... he should be main eventing... maybe a MITB win would be the way to book his push..

Batista is done.... he's so boring, still doing the same sh## he did when he left Evolution.... nothing new... oh sorry parden me he can now do an ankle lock... actually Kahli could do a more impressive ankle lock.... BatistaWarrior did however cut his best promo ever.... but I just don't get this.... Rey was suspended for drug abuse yet they give him a title shot upon his return... what the fu## kind of message does that send out to the rest of the locker room? "if you can't get over... do some roids and you'll get a title shot when you return?"

That's a typical WWE Creative shortcut fu##-up.... you simply cannot allow guys who just been suspended to get a freakin title shot... it sends out all the wrong signals, let alone sh##s all over the other guys who are trying to do the right thing and get over cleanly.... FAIL!

WOW for once I don't completely disagree with Linda.

I agree with pocket that Finlay's music has got to go it makes no sense with him and Hornswoggle not being together anymore(not that it made any sense when they were together). I think Finlay & Sheamus would be an entertaining Tag Team if you made them brute, irish, tough SOBs.

Slam Master J... the gimmick has got to go. Terry Gordy Jr. is a talented guy and hes held back by the stupidity of the creative team's lack of creativity. Hell the guys dad was a member of the Fabulous Freebirds... so why not make him acknowledge that and maybe start his own version of the Freebirds. I said it in a previous blog that I think it would be good for him and Festus if they dropped the dumb bell ringing thing for Festus and did the whole Major Brothers thing and say they just used that gimmick to break into the business and there real names are Terry Gordy Jr. and Drew Hankinson. Bring in Eli Cottonwood from FCW and they could be a rough, bad ass country boy group called the New Freebirds.

Teddy Long needs to go and needed to go long long ago. Replace him with Dusty Rhodes, Ted DiBiase Sr., Bret Hart, Stone Cold, Stephanie McMahon, I could list 100 people that should be GM over Teddy but I guess we should be happy that SmackDown! at least has a General Manager instead of a bunch of know nothing celebrities who are just there to plug there own bull sh##.

I agree that John Morrison is the man and he should be a main event guy. But I have no problem with him being the Intercontinental Champ and I would love to see him win it one or two more times and adventually move into the World Title picture against guys the likes of Jericho, Edge, & Punk the later of which he has proven he can have a great feud with. I just think that a slow build up would be better than just throwing him into the World Title picture. Because the fans are really getting behind him and the longer it takes him to become World Champion the better the story book moment it will be lol. Seriously though the deal with Eddie & Benoit back in '04 was that they worked there whole lives for that one moment and they did it. They should bring Morrison along in such a way. I'm not saying make him wait another 10 years but I'm saying maybe he could wait till WrestleMania 27 with a Rumble win and the Title win at Mania and he could talk about how ever since he was a kid he dreamed of being a WWE Superstar and becoming World Champion. I think he'd be like an icon to the fans in that situation.

Going back to some of my above comments. I think one of the biggest problems in the business today is not only the lack of creativity but the lack of Tag Teams and a Tag Team division. I've said this many times before but right now with the guys on the roster and the guys in FCW you could make amazing Tag Team divisions on both RAW & SmackDown!. I find it kind of insulting that we only have 3 legit Tag Teams in the company, Legacy, Cryme Tyme & The Hart Dynasty. If I were in-charge I could make a better product in about 5 minutes no joke. Here is my list of Tag Teams and what shows they should be assigned to.

RAW:
DiBiase & Rhodes - 2nd and 3rd generation superstars and Randy's protoges
Goldust & Santino Marella - comedy relief team and would be a good feud for Legacy
The Rotundo Brothers - 3rd generation brother tag team
Paul Burchill & Wade Barrett - bad ass englishmen part of a British faction with Nigel & Regal
Kris Logan & Justin Angel - young energetic high flying duo
The New Freebirds - red neck hicks
The Colons - Los Guerreros gimmick

SmackDown!:
Cryme Tyme - ghetto, gangster, thugs
The Hart Dynasty - The Hart Foundation 2009
Finlay & Sheamus - tough irish brutes
Hawkins & Ryder - Ryder does the Woo Woo Woo stuff and Hawkins is embarrassed and they could do the 10 second poses like E & C used to do
Tyler Reks & Johnny Curtis - Surfer gimmick
The Dudebusters - egotistical jackasses
The Worlds Greatest Tag Team - the best Tag Team in the world
Akio & Yoshi Tatsu - Like the Akio & Sakoda gimmick from '03

ECW should be dropped and replaced with Heat and Superstars should be changed to Velocity and they could be sister shows to RAW & SD! like they used to be and you could really push people. Also the PPVs should go back to being Brand exclusive minus the big four.

Theres just sooooooo much potential on the roster and it boggles my mind how they don't seem to see it. They never use anybody to their full potential and thats just wrong. I'm not a huge fan of John Cena but recently I bought the decade of SmackDown! dvd and its just amazing how back in '03 - '04 he was funny, edgy, entertaining, and actually had more than 5 moves. But now hes become so watered down and pathetic that its just a shame to watch every week. Hes not being used to his full potential and hes the top guy. He used to be a layed back, cool, funny guy and now hes this really energetic super hero character and people can't stand him anymore. It just goes to show that its not totally on the person to make something work. Its also on the creative team to make something work and it seems like they just don't care anymore. You can't argue that its completely on that guy to get himself over because Cena tries harder than anyone to be the top guy and half of the audience hates him... not because hes bad but because he isn't allowed to be what he could be. Hes being targeted towards a bunch of 5 year olds and the older fans can't stand him but when he was a rapper and rapping about stds and stuff the older fans thought he was hilarious.

If they hired me just for one day, in one day I could sit down and write/type out a whole new direction for the company and the character of each Superstar and probably give them an outline on where they should go with what and who should be champions over the next several years and the product would be leaps and bounds better than what it is right now. They wouldn't even have to pay me a dime and I would sit in a room for 24 straight hours and have a better product than what they have now on all of their shows. So tell me why a room full of "Creative" team people can't come up with a single good thing but yet I can come up with a hundred great things in a day.

I think I ranted enough. Back to the show I'd say it was about as bad as last week and thats not a good thing. Maybe it has something to do with Vince being a regular on the show now because it seems like everything he touches begins to suck.

1st off, i forgot to mention Drew McIntyre. The way he's been nudged (not really a push just yet) in recent weeks with the beat downs of Killings suggested they have him in future plans .... but they way that Vince came out and announced that he'd personally signed him to Smackdown and then went on to introduce him as a future World Champion kinda blew me away.... They don't do that.... Guys get pushes all the time but Vince never signs them to a show and publically says he'll be a future champ.... prepare for a MASSIVE push! I quite like the look of the kid though...

Rated, again spot on buddy.... creative have some serious issues... they're just fu##ing lazy.... they can write better stuff for Cena and still aim him at the youth.... they can do so much better with most characters...

Tag team idea is good, we only need a couple more teams, solid teams and the roster will be used fully and the belts get more exposure.... now I think they must be carefull how they continue with the division....

1st off keep the belts together, dont split them as it gives more cred and makes the champions look incredible having two belts each....

2nd Keep JeriShow together as long as possible, maybe even defending at Mania... again more coverage for the belts and with two huge stars holding them, they are becoming very important titles..

3rd Establish mid carders as teams.... MVP and Henry arn't getting a singles push in the next year so keep them together, working their way to the top slowely.... teams like yopu suggested like WGT and Colons should team up... again these mid carders are going nowhere so utilise them in the division that needs them.......

Final thing on my mind as I'm watching raw live... is the host for next week... some quarterback???? a pathetic use of a non wrestling personality in a shameless attempt to beat the footy... what are they gonna bring in a different NFL star each week???? sounds like desperation

oh and anyone noticed the foot holes on the cell??
