Linda's Thoughts - Unfortunately Another Bad Raw
Before I start the list of hell, I wanted to tell you the reason why I have kept a low profile, or basically the reason why I haven’t posted any columns since my Breaking Point Predictions. I have been sick with Bronchitis. Tomorrow will be two weeks since it hit me. This thing has really knocked the hell out of me and it’s been an effort to do really anything, especially as the day goes one. But I’m back today and I’m sorry that I couldn’t come back with a positive Raw column, but if you saw last night’s show then you know what to expect. This was torture last night and as I said the list of doom is on it’s way, but let me start with just a few highlights and I do mean a few and then it’s on to the list.
The highlight for me was the opening match between Triple H vs. Cody Rhodes. I loved this match for a number of reasons. First, DX didn’t do their usual fun stuff; instead they focused on Legacy and their Hell In A Cell Match in two weeks. Hunter and Shawn did a nice job talking about just how brutal this match can be. Second I loved how Cody dominated most of the match. Last week Shawn did a super job putting Ted DiBiase over in a very good match, and last night Hunter did the very same thing with Rhodes. And third not only did I love the match, but I was thrilled when DiBiase and Rhodes attacked the hell out of Hunter and Shawn. This match was a great way to start the show, and it’s just too bad that things didn’t continue to come off this well, but anyway this was my highlight of the night.
I also liked Mickie vs. Beth Phoenix. I would have loved to have seen this go a little longer, but what we got was entertaining, and I also got a kick out of some of Alicia Fox’s reactions geared toward the fans that were booing her. She came off very natural as a bitch and that is a compliment. The main event with Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Big Show taking on John Cena, MVP and Mark Henry came off very well. Just like the opening match this was a real crowd pleaser and with all the crap that the show gave us at least this held my attention. I thought all four did a good job and of course anything that has Jericho in there is always a good thing. Also I happened to like Santino and Cedric’s segment. I really didn’t expect too but Santino made it a lot of fun and I didn’t even mind Chavo coming out. This was probably the only Cedric segment that I liked. And finally Lillian Garcia’s heartfelt good-bye was not only done so well but she had me crying along with her. You could just tell that she meant what she said and I have to say that I have seen her live so many times and every time that woman sang the National Anthem I would get chills. She sang with such feeling and emotion and I will miss not seeing her live and on TV.
Well here we go my list of all the garbage on the show. Sit back and prepare yourself for a long list.
1. The opening with Cedric The Entertainer. Now before I complain I have to say I liked Cedric. He came off very likeable it was just the material he came with that I hated. The opening with his “entourage” leaving the Limo didn’t make me laugh, and when I so the goat come out the first thing that hit me was, I’m going to say this was a BAAAAAD beginning to the show.
2. While I thought Miz’s interview with Josh Matthews came off very well. But, I’m a little sick and tired of Evan Bourne doing the job. Or maybe I should say I could handle Bourne losing if he was just given a chance to work a match where he looks as good as he did on ECW. I was very disappointed by the way this thing turned out. Had it gone on longer with Bourne being able to have a lot more offense then I wouldn’t have minded the loss, but this match did nothing for me.
3. I think one of the worst parts of last night’s show was the contract signing. This was beyond boring. I hated the way John Cena came off and his actions made Orton look like a total jerk. You have DX talking about HIAC and how dangerous it is, but during this contract signing, Orton was being serious as usual, but Cena was laughing and telling so called jokes and he really came off so obnoxious. Having Orton come off so focused against a guy just out there making faces and joking was HORRIBLE. Didn’t Cena last week say that he was a changed man after being tortured by Orton at Breaking Point? I guess by changed he meant more annoying and obnoxious than ever. This was just pathetic and as I said it made Orton look as bad as Cena because Orton was doing what was expected of him, focusing on their big HIAC match but it was Cena that made all of this seem like it meant nothing. GREAT JOB CREATIVE TEAM!
4. Are you kidding me? Jack Swagger one of your best heels vs. Kofi Kingston in a two-minute match ends with Swagger going after the Miz for stealing the title belt. I mean what the hell is going on? This was for the U.S. title, and Swagger opts to go after the Miz for taking the belt, when he possibly could have beaten Kingston and won the title? Another bravo for the Creative Team. I would love to know what they were smoking last night.
5. What can I say about Cedric vs. Chavo with another run in from Hornswoggle? Well I could say a lot but I’ll act like a lady so NEXT.
6. As much as I liked the main event, I just knew that Orton, Jericho and Show would win when Jericho and Show said that they talked Cedric into making this interesting. If they won, Cena would face them in a Gauntlet match next week on Raw. But if they lose then Orton would face Cena, MVP and Henry in a Gauntlet match. There was no way Cena’s team was winning. Because next week Cena will show that Super Cena side of him and take them all out. That’s something that I don’t need to see.
Six miserable segments on Raw, and every time I think Raw is finding its way back it’s shows like this that knock it right back down. Well look for me over the weekend with my Smackdown thoughts and while I liked Friday’s show I didn’t find it to be one of Smackdown’s best, so hopefully this week the show will be better, hell you know it has to be better than last night’s Raw.

What a shocker, according to Linda's column, the highlight of Raw was the Triple H match. I, for one, did not miss your biased column one bit. I'm also getting sick of your excuses as to why you don't post columns. The only reason I read this column is to see what load of bullsh## your going to attempt to fill us up with next. Your column should be removed from the main page and replaced with a column from Pocket, Mysterio, Shadow, or that other RKO guy. I'd even read a TNA bashing column by STFU. These guys are what keep this website running and they contribute much more to this website than you ever have, especially now.
Linda's Column = FAIL!!!!

Legend, thanks for the Killer compliment!!! (couldn't resist a bit of cheese)
Here's the thing with Linda AKA Michael Cole:
I came accross her work around 3 or 4 years ago on another website (which I won't name Mark) whilst I was living in Gemany, where I had only 1 hour of Smackdown and no Raw on tv each week... so I used to go to the overpriced internet cafe to catch up. I stumbled accross this column which was a real good read, she was a long term fan and seemed like she knew what she was writing about... and I confess I looked forward to the next column.... not anymore!!!
Its as if she dissapeared and someone took over the column, because it really isn't the same quality that it used to be... I mean sure everyone has a fave wrestler or two, everyone knows I love Orton and hate Punk and Cena (and Taker and Batista Warrior too) but the Hunter gushing is too much! Was there always this much H love in her writing? no... so will the real Linda Robin please stand up?
She, her opinion reminds me very much of Michael Cole.... loves the good guys to the point of annoying, totally digs Hornswoggle and is a joint founder of the "Hunter Gush" fan club!
Ok I'll get a little serious now. This was actually her best work in months and made some good points but its like having nice weather in October... never gonna last! She's as injury prone as Batista and only writes about Raw when Hunter is on the show... and throws all her attention on Smackdown... understandable considering the crap that Raw has become but is there ever an opinion? ever something to back her points up if she ever makes one? no, never..., had she posted a counter arguement then maybe she would legitamise her column but no.... i'm with Legend Killer on this one... her column has deteriated like Raw....
She's too PG just like Raw.... never rants... never curses... only guffs!!!
Instead of "i didn't really care much for Cedric's segments" say whats really happening to
Monday night Raw woman.....like Raw sucks because Vince is allowing B-list celebs quality TV time only to plug their B-list movies, shows, music whatever.... taking away multiple storyline options involving a GM, and keeping needed talent off tv by allowing Cedric 15 mins to plug some internet voting sh## that nobody cares about! thats what she should be writing about and not how great Raw was a few weeks ago because she was there.... it happened to be one of the worst ever..... Bob Barker weeek... need more be said?
So maybe Mark should act on this and banish her lazy writing.... hope she doesn't charge for that sh##?

Oh and Bronchitis is no excuse....if I canfit carpet, change pipe work and fit my new kitchen whilst keeping tabs (like I did this week) then I'm, sure writing a few paragraphs on the laptop is acheivable whilst attending to a sore throat....
...lame excuse!

Nah.....Lindas cool, shes just a different type of fan......I read her first column and i'll read her last column. At least she's not bitter and twisted about the product, ranting and raving about stuff 99% of us don't give a sh## about.
What hurt this site was removing all the people that built the fu##ing thing in the first place. You might not like it, but Wrestling God, Estrrrrada, VIG, etc, did all the interesting stuff......usually against idiots who were so far up their own backsides that they thoroughly deserved a good ridiculing.....but well done.....you guys killed Impactwrestling.com. From around 50-100 people interacting with this site on a daily basis, we now have about 5.....and frankly 3 of them are total wankers. ALL the decent writers, aside from Linda Robin, won't blog here anymore. Lee Vox, who is probably the best pure writer on wrestling today, is gone. Gavin Niven, Censor300, Vince is god, Mudflaps......hell, even Kevin, Hvan3 and Rob......gone.......and you choose to whine about the final, decent, warm hearted, intelligent writer that we have left on this site?.......FU## YOU! Go bi### on some other site, leave Linda the hell alone. If Mark had some balls he'd ban the lot of you now before he has to close the site because of your "valuable contribution".
I have no respect for trying to turn pro wrestling into an adult entertainment show......Wrestling has been, and always will be for family's. Would you make the Simpsons an over 18 show just because some adults enjoy it? No, you would simply produce another show that was aimed at adults. You can't do that with WWE's main shows.....they are too embedded in family entertainment. On the other hand you can do that with TNA/ROH/etc.....they are relatively new shows.......you could even get WWE to produce a brand new show exclusively for adults......but you can't do that with RAW or Smackdown. Depriving the traditional audience of WWE/WWF of an accessible format would be career suicide for Vince. The Attitude Era worked for all of 5 mins.......it was not sustainable. After a fairly short time, the ratings plummeted......WWE had to go back to their established audience......something most people understand and accept.....people of above sub-human intellect that is..............

I'm confused, Mysterio. You sit there and get all depressed talking about the way things used to be, talking about how everyone posted and there were coversations going on here constantly. And yet, you want Mark to ban the only people that post on here(if they don't agree with your opinion). I understand everyone has their own thoughts and feelings, I was merely posting mine. You want to slit your wrists because nobody posts here anymore? Maybe if you didn't throw a hissy fit and cuss people out when you don't agree with them, people would post more. Don't get me wrong, I understand you are posting a counter-response to people's posts, but I've never seen anyone get so worked up. "FU## YOU"? Does your caps lock signify anger? Does it signify yelling? Your caps lock does not scare me.

Mysteriomonkie, you do realize that without the attitude era WWE would not be here right? Do do realize that during the attitude era wrestling was at its finest, most popular, had the best storylines, and was a hell of a lot more realistic then it is nowadays? All the time I have been on this site, I have heard you bi###ing at us because we want WWE to be a little more edgy. I fail to understand why you get so uptight when we share our opinions. Nowbody has said to throw tradition out the window, ban kids from watching wrestling or anything like that. I would imagine you are 30 years old, so why are you so eger to see a product aimed at kids, and not for everyone? I don't give a damn if kids watch wrestling, but who says that wrestling has to be aimed at them constantly? You said the attitude era worked all of 5 mins?? Laughs.. You nor anyone in the world can convince me that if WWE was producing in the late 90's that they are now, they would still be here. WCW would have run them out of business, and you know it. How about respecting what others think instead of just jumping down people who want to see WWE get better. How about wanting something new instead of the same stuff over and over again. Nobody calling for a boycott from all kids to watch wrestling, yet you think all we live for in life is for that to happen. Get over yourself

The thing about the Attitude Era though is that the only reason the WWF/WWE went through that period was because WCW was trying to drive him out of business. WWE is now what it was before that which is family entertainment. Now if another company steps up to give the WWE competition by using all the sex and violence WCW used to start pulling in ratings then maybe just maybe the WWE becomes edgy once again. Let's be real about this also, the world as far as broadcast television is concerned is not what it was 10 years ago. The FCC has gotten extremely tough. There's no way the WWE gets away with that stuff in 2009. Now believe me I loved the Attitude Era, but there's no reason to have that kind of product today.
I have no problem with the pleas to have new main event talent. That's desperately needed. That's pretty much all I have for you guys.

Interesting Mr Coburn... I'm gonna claim one of those non-wanker spots... think I earned that much!
Monkie I don't know what your issue is dude.... you lined yourself up for a bashing... guys like VIG, Wrestlingod 90210 and Estraada were valuable to this site? and the guys who got bashed by them (and you're a pu### for not naming names) killed this site??? dude get fu##ing serious!
.....those guys were adolecant idiots who came to pick a fight at the saloon rather than whiskey and pu###.... they never made constructive coments, and never ever blogged... like yourself... maybe before my time on the site, but thats around two years ago.... defend them all you want dude that yes most blogs were 20 post long but they criticised every single blog but never put anything in their own words... a huge contribution they made hey Mr Coburn? They had the vowels removed because they were Trolls.... remember the death slur comments? or did you wipe that from your selective memory??
Right bored of bashing the Monkie....
The Attitude era did indeed save Vince's ass and his company too, another thing Monkie forgets (oops) but due to the fu##ed up tv media frenzy world that we live in now everything his company or stars do gets scruitenized by hundreds of newspapers, magazines, news broadcasters and of course websites.... we will never see any Attitude from WWE in the near future... see the thing is that Vince has to live by guidelines nowadays... he doesn't have the same freedom he had in the 80's where nobody gave a sh## that Hogan was juiced up to his eyeballs... Vince even had shares in some bodybuilding promotion in the 90's but since the CNN steroid report a few years back, his company now is forced to give a sh##... forced to take action against the offenders unless they were called HHH or Batista (i'm refering to the refusal to test Hunter when Scott Steiner was asked to test... and the recent cover up of a top star)
Once that report was issued and Benoit did what he did and Eddie died Vince had to act and give a sh## about former wrestlers who died of roid abuse and now even funds a rehab program.
Now the thing is with the whole PG rating is that despite what Vince airs on Raw, the kids will watch it... weather its Hornswoggle or Edge fu##ing Lita and he knows it, he must...yet contradicts the whole PG thing... we see the "don't try this" vids each week yet they show old homemade vids of Foley and the Hardys wrestling as kids in their yards.... kids will watch this too.... so Vince needs to kinda tone it down or recieve a media ass whooping when a kid jumps from his roof like Foley and dies....
... so hands are forced to sway away from an adult themed show but you don't need to have "live sex" on a show to get ratings.. Let Kellyx2 show as much skin as Stacy, let stars bleed but black and white it out on recorded shows.... you don't need to put celebs over wrestlers to get ratings because a good product will get attention.....
Sex sells, Controversy draws and great storyline do to.... vince just needs to find the right balance for the times of today!!!

Mysteriodrunkie once again proves that he is one of the few knowledgeable people on this site. Not being sarcastic. You people did indeed kill this site. I mean, you all got rid of Eric. Eric! The greatest human being ever to live! With his enthralling one sentence blogs! I immediately started hating close to all of you when Eric got the boot.
You people make it seem like Linda beating off to Triple H/HBK is something new. And just because she doesn't hate Raw with every fiber of her being doesn't make her an idiot.
Alright. You people want your precious attitude era to come back? Stop watching the product. Go on, it's easy if you try. Just stop tuning in. Watch TNA (if you can stomach it). Or don't watch a damn thing. Get all your other comrades, your 'grown-up' fans, to stop watching too. Completely eradicate that age demographic from the Raw ratings. That leaves what, the passive fans and the kiddies? Huh. Come to think of it, I don't think it would matter if you people stopped watching it. The ratings would still be at least a 3.0, which is not a cause of concern. TNA still wouldn't be able to compete, and that's the problem. If TNA were good enough to take significant ratings and actually compete, then who knows? Lack of competition hurts the pro wrestling business as a whole. And I add, the WWE consistently rated in the 3.04 range about a year ago. Funny, I don't remember as much bi###ing then. And you know, considering that the attitude era was around what, ten years ago? The fact that you people still cry for its return really is starting to sound like a broken record. Hate to say it, but maybe with the WWE steering towards a more family audience and with you people getting older, it just may be time to move on.

If you remember Don, I was giving Eric pointers but it was all to late... I tried again with the weird latino looking dude a few weeks back but again he was all to into Buff Bagwell and that didn't work either...... how can encouraging people to blog be a crime?
ok sure I'm a sarcastic fu##er but, hey.... I'm English:)

Well, the Attitude Era may never be back, but that's not the point, the point is today's product is in very bad shape. It is possible to put on a great show without giving someone at the FCC a heart attack (cause they seem to take their business VERY seriously) Also, WWE is maybe trying to target LITTLE kids too much, maybe if they concentrated on young teenagers (11-16), it wouldn't hurt the product's appeal to more mature audiences that much. With Sherry Shepard hosting Raw in October, the worst is yet to come.
About Linda; I like her opinions some of the time, although sometimes I wonder what the hell is she thinking? Like, for example, "another" bad raw?, does that mean last week's Raw was bad? I actually liked last week's Raw. I don't see how she liked the show with Bob Barker, and didn't like last week's show with Trish. But those are her opinions. You don't like it when Monkie belittles everyone's opinion, don't do the same with Linda.

Well said dogging.....no need to add to that
Pocket.....you bang out a of blog on varied subjects once or twice a week.....that's a good thing for the site, and a good thing for getting people onto the site......you can take what you like from that.
Name names? I don't need to do that, it's pretty obvious to anybody visiting this site on a daily basis who I mean.
Linda is a good writer, and quite a nice lady from my own correspondence with her on occasion. She thoroughly deserves her place as a columnist on this site.....and long may it last. Like most people, I respect her work, so if you want to rag on someone Buffalo Bob is your man.......nobody in the world respects his work......not even Bob himself......

guys I totally agree... opinons are opinions... they make the differance between us and the next guy but its not Linda's opinions that piss people off... its that she has a column which has become dry, old and stale and there are others on this site who could do better... and I'd still like to know if or what she earns form her writing?
I like it when Flaming finally puts his words in... they are mostly long overdue (dude you should participate more) because he always.... well mostly makes complete sense... I'll consider my wrists slapped!
and Bob Maghee does indeed suck! good point!
one question I got for the English guys here; the Josh/Miz interview? doesn't ring any bells with me? was it on there? or is that another segment we miss due to the poor live coverage we get? for the yanks out there... we get Raw live on Monday at 2am which is interupted constantly by at least 8 ad breaks that can be upto 10 mins long.... wanna know what we miss?
