Linda's Thoughts - Goodbye For Now Jeff

What a feud, what a show. Of course I’m talking about Smackdown and the rivalry between CM Punk and Jeff Hardy.  As much as I loved Raw and I did, Smackdown really blew me away. I have so many positive things to say about almost everything that we got, with of course just a few minor segments that I didn’t care for. But even the worst parts of Smackdown didn’t add up to very much. Hey let me get right to one spectacular SMACKDOWN! I can’t wait to share my thoughts with all of you.

Of course Smackdown opened up with a bang. We got the very smug CM Punk cutting a hell of a promo. He bashed the pro Hardy crowd like crazy using lines like, "I told you all that I would beat Jeff Hardy at Summer Slam, and in case you are all too intoxicated to remember, let me show you how I did it."  And then there was this line.  He said that WWE higher ups are afraid of him because they don't know what a Straight Edge World Champion is. He said,  "I am a pioneer.” He said he's the role model the world needs because he doesn't drink, smoke, or abuse prescription medication "like Jeff Hardy. Punk week after week is just proving what so many of his Ring of Honor fans knew and what so many of fans like me knew once WWE started using him consistently, playing a heel is what he does best.

Not only did this guy come off well but also so did his counterpart, Jeff Hardy. Throughout this feud I have loved the way that Hardy has reacted to Punk’s comments. It’s not only with verbal responses, but it’s also with some pretty good facials. Again the interaction between these two was dynamite. Punk continuously got his digs in about Hardy being intoxicated and on painkillers. Of course Jeff Hardy just took it all in. This was so good because both of these guys just played their parts perfectly. I had a feeling after watching this opening that Smackdown was going to be a hot show and yeah I was right. Before this all ended Theodore Long came out and made the cage match official.  And the stipulation would be that the loser would have to leave WWE.  And the winner would face The Undertaker at Breaking Point for the World Title. So this was a very STRONG opening segment, which lead to the first match of the night. That was Hardy and John Morrison against Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith.

This was a good match that could have been a fantastic match if this would have gone way past the three-minute mark. I just wish these four had the opportunity to go at least 10-15 minutes because as fans we deserved it. I love watching Kidd and Smith, especially Kidd, and with Morrison and Hardy in there this could have been a hell of a match. Well for the short time this went on it was good and it certainly kept my enthusiasm going for the rest of the show. Now I have to be honest with you, this thing that we get on and off with Melina and Maria talking about Dolph Ziggler is somewhat annoying to me. I think mostly because their acting is so bad, it comes off like two girls in middle school talking about that cute guy in their classroom. I think both women come off unlikeable and I really could do without the drama.  So on to more positive things. I know it was just one short appearance but I’m kind of into the way they introduced Drew McIntyre. He was polite enough to let R. Truth get most of his, What’s Up rap in, but right before Truth finished it and entered the ring McIntyre it him hard, or I should say kicked him hard in the head with his boot.  And if that’s wasn’t enough he started punching the hell out of Truth and ended it all with a DDT. This was nice work from the new guy. Drew then said that he was sorry to ruin the little party. He introduced himself and said the party is over. This really was a cool way to bring McIntyre in, I was very happy with this segment.

The whole Michelle McCool injury thing does nothing for me. Now I know she did hurt her knee during a house show a few weeks ago, but when she sits at the announce table I cringe when she opens her mouth. She has absolutely no charisma at all, and that little promo that she cut before the women’s match with Melina vs. Layla was like nails on a chalkboard. I guess McCool needs to be seen and NOT heard if they intend to continue to using her. The match between Layla and Melina was good, but right now I am not really interested in the Smackdown women’s division. They need someone with a lot more to offer than McCool as the champion.  Okay the next match was with Kane vs. Rey Mysterio. Now we have seen these two go at it on Raw, but I happened to like Friday’s match. Rey and Kane have always seemed to have good chemistry and that continued with this match. Judging by interference from Khali and his brother Runjin Singh I would say we are going to see a rematch between Kane and Khali at Breaking Point. Now their Summer Slam match was enough for me, but I guess Khali could possibly get the win at that pay per view. Okay so Khali and Kane left the arena and all of a sudden Dolph Ziggler came out and attacked Rey. This I liked a lot and I am guessing with Rey being suspended for 30 days starting Wednesday, Ziggler could win that I.C. Title on this week’s Smackdown.

The segment that started out with Shad Gaspard taking on Chris Jericho, but ending as a tag team match with Cryme Tyme vs. Big Show and Jericho was a lot of fun to watch. This was another very good match with these four guys. I really expected Cryme Tyme to win, since they lost at Summer Slam but for some reason, Vince McMahon didn’t see it my way and the win went to Show and Jericho. This program between Cryme Tyme and Jericho/Show has really benefited Shad and JGT, and here’s hoping that they continue to be used a lot on Smackdown, and that they don’t slowly start disappearing week after week. Since it was the last Jeff Hardy show for a while I happened to like the little interaction between Jeff and Matt. It was nice way to get these two back together. But what I really loved was the Cage match with Jeff and Punk. This was one of the best Cage matches that I’ve seen in a while. Without a doubt this match would have been THE match of the night on a pay per view. This was just off the charts and I think most of us knew that Jeff was going to lose but it didn’t matter, because there was just so much excitement going on here. After Punk and Hardy’s outstanding TLC match at Summer Slam these two still managed to put on a five star match on free TV. What a match and what a great show. I have to say that even though Jeff Hardy’s departure was a sure thing, it was still sad to see him go and very sad to watch so many in the arena crying. I thought Jeff’s good-bye was done well and hopefully Jeff will return.

This has been a super week for all of us WWE fans. Summer Slam was outstanding, I loved Raw, ECW came off quite well, and Smackdown was excellent. Now let’s keep this streak going with a solid Raw tomorrow night and Raw’s guest host Dusty Rhodes. I think Dusty could bring a lot to Raw. I will be back with my Raw thoughts on Tuesday or Wednesday, and I’m hoping they will be really happy thoughts. By the way, I am going to the Labor Day Raw, and I am so happy because I just read today that Bob Barker is hosting our show, not Mike Adamle. Ah things are looking up.

HAHA... I just find it humorous that you had anything to nit pick about on SmackDown! when you thought RAW was so great. SmackDown! is the best wrestling show on TV every week and has been for the past 4 months. Michelle McCool is good I don't get why you act like she is terrible I hear people give her crap for stealing finishing moves but theres a crap load of people who do the exact same moves as other wrestlers and its no big deal. Michelle has charisma and she plays the snobby bi### very well so I don't get why you think she sucks other than her voice which you really can't fault her for. Really the only bad thing they ever have on SmackDown! is Mike Knox, the guy either needs a partner or needs to be let go like his twin Snitsky(and no I'am not suggesting Snitsky & Knox, I would jump out of a window if I saw that).

Dude she only loves Raw because the's one of those gay face loving fans who guffs at the DX comedy skits and enjoys life when Hornswoggle is on TV!!! Think of her as a female version of Micheal Cole....

Michelle McCool is one smoking piece of ass, she can do no wrong! Now seriously she is one of 2 of the Divas who actually has a personallity.... with the adorable Maryse being the other! The fact that she can wrestle and cut a half decent promo is a godsend... her promos are better than some of the guys on the roster! And who the hell can citicise her for using someone elses finishing move? She is awesome for being able to pull the move off.... cant remember anyone slating Melina for using the Rolling Thunder? Linda, go watch the divas on Raw.... THEN you can complain about how outa shape Mickie is, how one dimentional Beth is, how Fox is pathetic and how poor Gail Kim has nobody with any ability to work a good match with!!!!

I have one issue that I simply MUST touch on... his name is Teddy Long (bounce bounce bounce)

I cannot watch him for one second, I scramble desperately to find the remote to save myself from the bouncing suit! Teddy Long SUCKS! He is without a doubt the worst, and I'm including Adamle in this here, the worst GM we've ever...e..e...eeeever had on Raw or Smackdown! He was ok on Smackdown because nobody watches it but the hot blonde soon outshone him, and her words flow like a Polish immigrant ordering Chinese Takeaway!

Fuck me, watse the guest host gimmick on Smackdown instead of Raw.... I actually believe that Prinze Jr would do a great job on SD.... hell my dog could do better than Long! He just repeats whet the guys cutting a promo says and form it into a match... all he does is s..l..o...w..l...y.. repeat the wrestlers names making sure he says the Cena or Batista or the Jeff Hardy at the end for the cheap pop!

He is the worst part of the show... and i'm including Rey Rey, Kahli, Knox and Punk who you all know i can't bear!

Smackdown truely misses Vickie Guerrero!

Also WHY THE FU## is Punk facing the Underatker already at Breaking Point? What the fu## is going on? Vince, this is why Austin quit a few years back... remember when you wanted to throw him against Lesnar with ZERO build up? and he quit and said fu## you... thats not right? Vince has not learnt from that, not learnt that Goldberg and Bret quit due to similar reasons..... Vince McMahon is so blinded by the green that he refuses to see that his overkill of PPVs is killing his product!

Boiling Point is coming up in a few weeks... when? i've no idea cos i've no interest! An entire PPV of submission type matches screams LAME! Because of this PPV there must be a title match... hence the rush job into a submission match.... should a submission match not end a fued? like Jeff v Punk?? instead of beggining one? Can anyone seriosly see Taker tapping out? Punk doesn't even have a submission move... nor does Orton for that matter so does that mean Cena and Taker both win???? looks like it! unless Legacy run in! Do we need to see Taker take the title back within a week of him being back? when Morrison is still stuck waiting for his push?

Vince is SSOOO out of touch!

You said it all pocket my man... and I guess the deal with Breaking Point is that its just the main event matches that are submission. But as you said Undertaker will not tap out and so I haven't a clue how Punk could retain and than you've got Cena v.s. Orton in an I Quit Match which there is no fu##ing way in hell Cena will say I Quit so its a guaranteed Cena Title win. William Regal is about the only heel with the slightest chance of walking out as Champion. I hate the whole Submission based PPV and Hell in a Cell based PPV because it just comes off as a cheap ass TNA Lockdown rip off and Lockdown is gay just like TNA itself is gay. Its not as exciting when you know every match at the PPV is going to be the same stipulation. Its like a Cage Match cool, oh another cage match, what another cage match, why the hell is there so many cage matches, ok enough with the cage matches. So we came up with a concept for a PPV that almost guarantees the faces will win thats awesome. It'll definetly be a kiddy favorite. LOL and pocket I liked the female Michael Cole comment, your right she probably pisses herself at the mere sight of D-X. I would like them to make Dusty Rhodes GM of SmackDown!

I remember the good old days of King of the Ring, Summerslam, Survivor Series, Rumble, Mania and that was it. Each PPV was the culmination of a long and deep-rooted feud. Now the feuds dont have a soul!! Too many PPVs? Dam right. The number of PPVs increased to compete with WCW but they aint around no more.... so why still have one PPV a month, to maximise revenue?? I guess nobody has told Vince that sometimes less is more, and if product quality increases, THAT can earn you money too!!

And yeh the submission matches noth seem like obvious outcomes.... though Vince will know that as well, Cena and Taker winning is too obvious, so i'm going to say at least one of them will not. Perhaps one of them will pass out (similar to austin in WM 13, cue a legacy change to babyfaces in time for Dibiase's movie, when Randy refuses to quit in the STF.... i know i know.. dream on.

But if they're gonna be playing around and experiment with new PPV types, they should do a Random match PPV... i.e. with the Raw Roulette. Imagine Taker vs Punk in a Hair vs Hair match, or Cena vs Orton in a pie eating contest etc!!!!! Guaranteed twists.

Here's the thing... they've set up two very boring main event outcomes... face wins! So Vince will try and be smart and "swerve" us internet users... the general population of the earth! He feels that us reading the spoilers is hurting his product! then go live with Smackdown dude... use your balls!

He will be happy with keeping us guessing and will be backstage kicking his highschool writers asses to come up with a good/shocking ending for one of the main events! surely both faces cannot win? surely The Undertaker can't beat Punk straight away? but how the hell does Punk tap the Deadman out? this is the kinda stuff that gets vince off...

I'm gonna go with Cena winning but the easiest way to swerve the fans is for Legacy to force him to say I quit... OR do a Rock v Mankind where Orton could use a recording of Cena's promo to cheat the win! Taker on the other hand is never ever in a million years tapping out! But Punk on the other hand only just won the belt and has had very short riegns so far.... most likely outcome is the triangle choke finish!

Finally I gotta ask.... what the flying fu## did Undertaker do to just walk into a title match? he's not even returned to Smackdown and already Teddy Long (bounce bounce bounce) has announced that Punk will now defend his title against...... wait for it.... The Undertaker (clinched fist and cheap pop) .... fu## I hate Teddy Long!

Surely Jeff coulda tapped to Punk and finished the fued before Taker jumps the que? It would've made SO much more sense.... I really dispise when Guys like Taker/Batista/Edge just jump the que ahead of guys like Morrison who is hot right now... See Vince THAT right there is why YOU have a piss poor roster... you keep sh##ting on the little guys because you're sh## scared of a PPV not being headlined by an OAP! use your balls Vinny
